Ben McHale

Some people are natural ambassadors for a mission, and Ben is certainly one of ours.

One of our Founder Leaders, Ben has become an incredible advocate for the Carlo Acutis Association. His enthusiasm for youth ministry, willingness to reach out to parishes and determination to open doors for new youth groups have played a huge part in helping our mission grow.

What inspired you to become involved with the Carlo Acutis Association?

“My parish priest asked my brother and me to start a youth group. The problem was, we didn’t really know where to start, and we came to a halt pretty quickly!

Then we attended the youth group’s summer finale with Ray. It was so inspiring to see what had been created and what was possible. That was the moment my brother and I jumped on board and started working with Ray and the established team.

Having experienced ourselves how difficult it can be to know where to begin, being able to help other parishes take those first steps means a lot.”

What’s been your favourite moment so far?

“My favourite part of youth ministry is seeing young people grow in their faith, while spending quality time with like-minded people in a safe, fun and phone-free environment.

Seeing those friendships develop alongside their faith is what makes it so worthwhile.”

What would you say to a young person thinking about coming along for the first time?

“Come along with an open mind. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends and be part of something that brings together fun, faith, community work and some really amazing trips!”
